Coverage & scope

Our plant universe is built as the reconciled union of public registers — the Green Gas Certification Scheme (the operating, certificate-selling fleet), the Ofgem NDRHI accreditation register (the subsidy and cliff record), and Companies House / Environment Agency for entity and permit confirmation. No single register is complete on its own, so we cross-reference them and document every judgement call here.

Why a plant can be on a register but not in our fleet

The Ofgem NDRHI register lists subsidy accreditations, not physical plants. One plant can hold several accreditations; some accreditations were provisional and never built; some belong to sites that have since ceased. We resolve each Ofgem entry to a real, operating asset — or we set it aside, with a reason. Below are the 46 Ofgem installations currently held out of the operating-asset analysis, listed in full.

Conversely, roughly a sixth of our plants never appear on NDRHI at all — the newest plants accredited under the successor GGSS scheme (NDRHI closed to new entrants), and industrial or water-utility injectors that monetised through transport fuel rather than the heat subsidy. That is why we do not treat any one register as the definitive list.
